We're fast approaching the end of April's 3words prompts. Yes, I know it's only the 18th, but we tend to do just 20 or 25 day prompts, and this one is going to be just 20. Oh, and so you know, there MIGHT not be a 3words prompt thing happening in May. They jury is still out on that one. However, if you read this and you actively want me to provide one, or a variation of what we've been doing here, just let me know, and I'm sure something can be arranged and provided. Of course, it could still happen anyway. You know where and when to look out for it. Happy writing.

Okay, so I forgot to announce that we're up and running again for another month, but I figured if you wanted to play you'd be beating down my door, right? Hmm. Well, something like that. I know there are some silent souls out there occasionally finding something within these pages, these words, these ideas, and that's enough for me at the moment. Feel free to step forward and be more vocal, more visible, though.

Oh, and DJ H? Why don't you stop reading and sign up already? You know you want to. :-)

Anyhoo, the first twelve words for April are up, as is the start of my story. I think we'll be running till the 20th again, so keep that in mind if you are writing something. You know, pacing? Right.

Is my story done? Is their moment told, detailed, explained enough? I'm not sure. It's possible. It feels kind of finished. But then not. I guess the only way to really know for sure is to have a look at what happens tomorrow.

To begin with, my current 3words story title of "as yet, undone" was simply a reference to the fact that I was yet to be done with a title, yet to have found one. However, the more the story progresses, and the more I can see of these two lonely souls on the bus, the more I think the working title actually works as an ongoing title. And may, in fact, have literally fed the story as it has been revealed to me far more than I first imagined. How cool is that?!

I placed an "ad" on a work noticeboard, so am hopeful somebody might stop by. If you do: HELLO! Please have a look around, get your wordy freak on, visit the forum, sign yourself up and start writing. Either begin a story from the 1st, or begin from now, or something inbetween. Or have a crack at the special. There will be another one soon. But the daily 3words from the prompts is the big thing we do here. Well, historically, at least; we're a little quiet at the moment, unfortunately. Mostly because we relocated after a considerable time lazing around in the shadows. But we are back in the light with a beat, so please feel free to strum, tap, clap or scribble along, cos we're here to stay.

Another first, another 3words story to begin, so here's hoping you know the plan, stop by, become inspired and start writing something that will put a gorgeous smile on your face, a warm glow in your heart, or a thought in your head. My new first 100 is up where it should be, where it's supposed to be. So where's yours? ;-)

Ok, so that's my February 3words story done. Well, as a first draft, anyway. Was a lot of fun again, and I like dipping in to the same story in small bursts over a number of days. It really does alter how I write the story if I'm constantly pulled away and then have to return, and I'm certain that this story is completely different to how it would be had I sat down and written the whole thing in one sitting. The withdraw-and-return approach, with an open mind where the story is concerned, flexes things out a little, I reckon. And I can do mindflexing. :-)

There might be a special between now and the end of the month, but, in the meantime, if you want to do what we did last month and grab any 3words from the 60 provided, and use them as the title to a new stand-alone story, feel free.

Wow. A whole week since I last posted some inanity. The story still stumbles along, blind man with a fag and all that entails. It's both good and bad, I think, as I've a good idea where it may be heading. This is both pleasing and sad.

No special this weekend, but you can have one whenever you want. There are always enough words and ideas to share. I finished my 10k story (begun last w/e but not worked on at all during the week, sigh: now THERE'S a habit I HAVE to break), and will hopefully edit soon. I'm a little wary, not least cos I think it might stink. But even if it does, if the idea holds, I can re-try it another way. I've also been working some on my next novel notes, and finally finally think I might be getting somewhere with the basics; at least enough to comfortably begin. Which is kind of key. :-)

Yeah, ok, so I stole my new story title from Freddie & The Boys, and I pinched my opening line from a song by Noah & The Whale, but the story's gonna be mine. Does that count for anything? Well, I hope so.

In fact, if you wanna play along this month, I'd like to see EVERYONE and ANYONE begin with the same opening line. The title can be yours. Talk about generous. So stop reading me and get writing..

I finished my story. Well, this first draft of it. And, no, it didn't go where I expected. And, no, that doesn't surprise me. And, yes, it could do with an edit and polish, but that's what re-writes are for, right? Exactly.

Something for the weekend, sir? Madam?

How about writing a short story based solely on the words from today, tomorrow & Sunday? It can be about anything, start anywhere and go wherever you want... You don't even have to keep to just 100 words if you're feeling a little flexible. Alternatively, I could throw you an opening, a character or an opening line and you could run with that? Whatever gets you writing works in my book. Not that it's a book, of course...

Aside from that, I'm looking forward to a long weekend, with Monday booked off. Huzzah.

Ten days in, and I'm still playing with myself. This can't be good. Don't be shy: come join the fun. :-)

In my story, I think I know what Albert & Olly are planning to talk about, but I'm still not sure where it's heading (if that makes sense?). The more I write these, the more I find myself discovering stories so different to what I would have written had it all flowed from me during the same, single day. And sometimes this is a good thing.

Also, I think I woke at 4am today with the idea for February's 3words tale, so this is an ongoing endeavour.

Okay, so I posted a couple of web comments about this idea being back in circulation, and I sent a few timidish emails out regarding it... I might even post about it on a notice board at work... and I know a few of you are kind of nibbling around the idea of joining in...

It really doesn't matter if you can only commit to just 5 days, say. Or 500 words one day. 50 words over two weeks. Or 100 words on just the one day. Whatever suits you suits us because it suits you.

Weird. I had SO much trouble with the formatting within this websitebuilder program yesterday, and while the story took a mere 5 mins to write, the uploading and formatting took at least 60. And yet today, everything worked just like that, first time every time, taking no more time than the story. Me and my monkey like this. :-)

As for the story itself, I'm still not quite sure where it's going, or how much editing it will need upon completion. But... I am having fun writing it each day when I find the few moments to turn my mind to it, interested to see which direction my internal storyteller chooses to take. I now simply hope he keeps coming back for more.

Something discussed today with two lovely ladies from work was one of the early 3words attempts, where we all began in the same setting with two characters arguing. Who they were, what they were arguing about, and where the story went from there, were all up to the individual writer, and it was interesting to see the variety of paths chosen.

We were thinking a step on from that idea could be entertained, where we all begin with the very same first 100 words, say, and then lead from there, seeing where we end up this time?

I'm up for this if anyone else wants to try it. But then I'm all for creativity and flexing the mind a little. If only a little. Heck, I'm not as flexible as I used to be.

My ownership of this site was coming to a close, and I was wondering if I wanted to pay to continue... Given that I'd done NOTHING here in 2009, I should probably have just walked away... but I don't let go that easily.

So... here for at least one more month is... another 3words adventure...

Remember how to play?

I post 3words each day, and we write 100 words of an on-going story around/including them... I'll post words for 25/31 days, helping us create a 2500 word story, and allowing a week off to recuperate before beginning again in February.
